Tell a story to show your passion for giving care.
In the past years, I used to spend a significant amount of time with my great-grandmother, as she used to live minutes away from me. She developed a very rare neurological disease and deteriorated quickly, requiring constant care that myself as well as other family members provided. Although she needed constant care as her life progressed, that time spent with her contained some of my favorite memories with her. We would spend hours together watching movies and TV shows; I would read to her, go for walks where I would push her in her wheelchair, and go out to eat at her favorite restaurants, where I would have to provided complete care for her. Although she deteriorated very quickly, my passion to care for her never changed. I love creating these bonds with her while also giving her a quality life. After watching her suffer and the struggles she went through, I knew a career and job in caregiving was something I was very passionate about because I want to be part of the solution to giving back to those who need care. From this experience with my great-grandmother, I knew I have such a passion with care and helping others-- it is such deeply meaningful work, giving back to vulnerable elderly in the community.
What are the most positive things people would say about you?
My friends and family would describe me as a compassionate, caring individual who would drop what they are doing to do something for someone else. I love helping others, whether that be someone I have known for a very long time or a complete stranger. I am very outgoing, eager to learn, and love to connect with others on a deeper, more personal level. Rather than say, "that's not my job", I will pitch in to do whatever is needed and take pride in my attention to detail. People say that I light a room up as soon as I walk in, and I am very passionate about a job in caregiving because I love the personal interactions I would be able to have. My friends and family say I am a very selfless individual, someone who is patient, a good listener, and putting other people's needs before mine is second nature.
