Before she ever enters a classroom to become an occupational therapist, College of Charleston student Kyleigh Aycock could be summoned to provide home care to a patient as easily as booking a ride through an app.

It would be through Careyaya.org, a start-up launched in 2022 in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina through universities and students there. It recently branched out to the University of South Carolina in Columbia and has just added College of Charleston to serve families in the Lowcountry.
